K-CUP PARTY HAT

Image
If you've got K-Cups...You've Got Party Hats! Easily recycle or repurpose your k-cups and craft them into clever little hats you can use for a variety of events. The photo sample shows a simple brim made from a round woodlet, but you can use foam, felt or cardboard if you'd like.  Use black K-Cups to make cute top hats or paint them with bright colors and add lace, beads or other trims to create adorable little bonnets!  Here's how I made the sample project... 1.  Peel the foil lid off of a used K-Cup. 2.  Remove the grounds.  You can recycle them by mixing into your garden soil! 3.  Most k-cups have an inner filter lining so just pull it off. 4.  Most of the quality coffee brand cups have a plastic strainer.  I paint them and use as craft embellishments.  They make great dimensional  "owl eyes" or flower centers when you glue gemstones or felt circles to the center hole! 5.  Apply craft glue around the top edge of the k-cup and attach it to the cent

SHOWERING BABY

Image
Looking for fun Baby Shower ideas?  Here's a few ideas you may want to try... The theme of this shower was Nature after the new Mom-To-Be chose to decorate the nursery with a deer and dandelion design she discovered on a crib bedding set.  Invitations/Thank You cards were handcrafted with yellows, white, soft greys and natural brown colors with a mom and baby deer modeled after the bedding design.  Tabletop creations were made with a birch paper covered pot with a beaded tree branch and paper cutout deer ornaments. Simple silk flowers, vases of baby's breath and jars filled with rosemary, sage, thyme, lemon and lime slices added an inviting fragrance to each tabletop setting. Chairbacks were decorated with wide burlap ribbon and sprigs of "naturals" lending a light and airy ambiance to the room for guests to enjoy. In lieu of gift package bows, the hostess (aka my sister-in-law!) requested guests bring a book for the baby to get a good head start on early rea

Favorite Harvest Recipes

Image
Favorite Lang Family Harvest Recipes I was digging for my no-cook Cranberry Relish recipe today to add to our Thanksgiving Gathering dinner menu and discovered 5 other family recipes that are perfect for the Harvest Season.  As many of you know, I've got a very good track record for kitchen disasters...I even set the dinner table on fire during a holiday feast one year!   Since the relish requires no cooking and I've made it several times without killing off a single family member, it's safe to say this recipes has been proven to be fool-proof!   My son, Jeff is a skilled chef in the kitchen and we always look forward to his culinary delights.  His wife, Naomi provides us with homegrown treats from her organic garden gatherings and her jams, jellies and pies are always welcome gifts.  I've also included a pork loin recipe created by my sister, Kathy and her husband, Andy who never fail to surprise us with their culinary skills and tasty recipes.   I hope you

Treat yourself to some Fireside Treats!

Image
Girl Scout cookies have finally arrived so I stoked up the fireplace and settled in for an absolutely delightful treat! I do love s'mores, but often find them to be too large, too messy and chocolate bars are just too thick to my liking.  Here's how I make my s'mores with a twist, using Thin Mints and Samoas Girl Scout cookies.  This also works great with fudge stripe cookies.  It's a quick, easy and fun treat for party entertaining, too...just provide a plate of cookies and marshmallows, hand your guests a fireside fork and watch them enjoy!

Make it a Country Western Theme!

Image
Try these fun ideas to make your Country Western Themed Party a hit! Make it Country! My husband and I recently attended a very different kind of company hosted themed gathering that could easily be adapted to a Country Christmas theme. Simply add some holiday greens and florals and you're there!  Here's a photo composition created with digital snapshots featuring some of the unique decorations and culinary novelties served at the event.   Hopefully you'll be able to incorporate a few of these delightful ideas for your own Country Western Gala events! Chairs were draped with a satin covering and a red bandana was prominently displayed in lieu of a bow on the back of each chair. An enormous cardboard cutout was lit up on the dessert station using a simple up-light which made the boot appear even bigger!  Stemware filled with apple pie and strawberry shortcake surrounded the boot along with guest choices of carrot cake, bread pudding and cherry cobbler.  Guest ta

A Simple Harvest Buffet

Image
A simply elegant Autumn Harvest Buffet My Sister-in-Law recently hosted an Autumn Anniversary Gathering at her home and I just had to share a few details about the event with you!  Nearly two dozen guests were in attendance so Linda's "Simple but Elegant" setting was absolutely ideal for a large indoor crowd. Small pumpkins, silk autumn foliage and strategically placed candles served as the perfect backdrop for our Italian themed dinner.   Homemade lasagna, garden salad, and breadsticks were served buffet style followed by a harvest layered gelatin, assorted  individual cheesecakes and coffee for dessert.  It was an absolutely perfect dinner event and a great example of how to celebrate an event with style.

A Shabby Chic Baby Shower!

Image
Fun ideas to make a Shabby Chic Baby Shower memorable   We have a little Grandbaby on the way!  My sister-in-laws recently threw a fantastic baby shower to welcome little Maryann to the family and I thought I'd share a few of their decorating ideas with you in hopes you'll be inspired when coming up with new ideas for your next hosted gathering.  I   digitally scrapped this collage page of  some of the photos I took of the event and hope to add it to our Granddaughter's scrapbook once she safely arrives.   Decorating in "Shabby Chic" style allows the hostess greater flexibility when it comes to working with a theme. One simply needs to gather up some on-hand materials
