As most parents know, kids sometimes tend to get more excited about the awesome box their gifts came in than in the gifts themselves! Boxes not only spark imagination and creativity, but they encourage open-ended play, help develop both problem solving and hands-on motor skills while keeping them entertained for hours on end. When my boys were young, we saved up our upc labels and sent away for a 2 seater cardboard space shuttle which they still remember today. Once they assembled and colored it with markers, it roared to life as it sped down the runway and took flight into destinations limited only to their imaginations. Both are now parents themselves and it's such a thrill to see them working on cardboard box projects with their own kids while still enjoying the process of turning ordinary boxes into extraordinary creations together.
Whether it's a place to hide, a rocket, a speedboat, a camper, a fort, schoolhouse, tunnel, spaceship or whatever, cardboard boxes are magical!
While trying to come up with gifts for the grandkids, I happened to stumble upon a site that immediately captured both my attention and my imagination.
The Magical Castle and Treats and Eats Shop playhouses were perfect choices for my grandkids. My daughter-in-law had the Treats and Eats Shop assembled in no time at all and both kids were immediately inside playing "Snack Shack" and serving up treats.
Next on my "to do" list is this blank white playhouse which will be transformed into a colorful "Book Nook" for the girls. It'll be a place for them to cuddle up with blankets, pillows, little lanterns and good storybooks while playing outdoors under the gazebo this summer.
Bankers Box also has a Facebook page you can visit. So grab a box, have some fun and get creative!
